International Christmas Adverts 2016 (Part 2)

Last post of the year and continuation of the International Christmas adverts.

It's spectacular to see funny adverts from around the world. ^_^ I'm pretty sure these ads have taken in the British take but added their own twists. I only found a few this time round like last year. :(

Australia: ALDI Australia - Nothing Beats the Perfect Aussie Christmas
LOL! I've realised that Australians are just plain crazy. It's the sunny sun sun that they get.  (I'm speaking the truth, they are crazy peeps!). The Australians have taken on their American cousins (or maybe German, since ALDI is German), this American family are on a mission to make the Australians a bit more Christmasy... will it work?

U.S.A.: Macy's #OldFriends
Hm, hm, naaah... I'm still struggling with Macy's efforts to make a Christmas advert. Seriously, the ad started out ok... then when it got to the end when Santa The Air Balloon tried to find his "Old Friend", all he got was a lame not from the old man... not even a smile! What has this got to do with Macy's anyway?!

Spain: Anuncio Lotería de Navidad 2016
Wooow. The Spanish Lottery advert always is my favourite! Awwww, I really like this storyline, an old lady thinks she won the lottery... but in the end I think she was trying to get the town together before Christmas to  enjoy life before things got boring in their small town. Nice advert!

Taiwan: 這個聖誕,願望成真 | SK-II #changedestiny
Wow. The Taiwanese are really good at bring out their emotional side. To think a little boy would do extra chores to get extra money to buy a Christmas present... but the present wasn't for himself, it was for his mother. Sweet!

#Zeitschenken – EDEKA Weihnachtswerbung
You know parents need to look at their children as a helping hand rather than being a nuisance... I think I'm going to have to teach Baby B in the future to help clean up. ^_^

REWE TV-Spot - Weihnachten wird ein Fest
This is a funny German ad! Are you afraid of your mother-in-law? Well it seems this lady was but wasn't in the end after she whizzed up a great meal. Phew!

Japan: "PlayStation Vita" CM「子ども先生」篇 Webスペシャルバージョン
A kid controlling a bunch of Santas? ¬_¬" What is PlayStation up to? Not sure about this ad but it looks like they're trying to make win-win situation here! LOL!

Korea:  던킨도너츠(DUNKIN DONUTS X CRAFTHOLIC) 2016 크리스마스 광고
I want a Dunkin Donut!! Looks like Santa was trying to deliver to two workaholics...

배스킨라빈스, 크리스마스니까 욕심내자! (안돼요 15")
Baskin Robins appears again on my posts... cute... that's all I can say for this ad....

Slovakia: Here's some Slovakian Christmas ads, they're pretty caring about family life and being friendly towards the community...

Santa Clara – Lidl

Tesco Kúzlo Vianoc 2016

Milka kúzlo Vianoc každý deň 2016

Spain:  Juntemos las mesas – Anuncio Pescanova
And finally we have another Spanish ad from a fishing company... share your seafood, get the family together, don't separate the children with the adults at dinner...!

So we end with another year of Christmas ads. ^_^

It's a Happy New Year from this Geek, The Geek and the geek from a simple geeky life! I really do have a geeky life. LOL! Have a good one tonight everyone!!! ^_^

International Christmas Adverts 2016 - IKEA (Part 1)

Everyone had a nice break? I did... no work for 4 days after a week back is kind of relaxing... Just have to deal with everything tomorrow...

So I'm back from my holiday (and needed these 4 days to sleep to recover from work and having no sleep in HK)! Woohoo. So before I start posting about my Hong Kong trip, we're going to step into the Christmas adverts from around the world for 2016.

I thought I would start off with IKEA first. Everyone loves IKEA... However I'm not sure if we're actually seeing much for Christmas because I could only find a few. :(

UK - Welcome Home - TV Advert 60” #WonderfulEveryday
Not sure if this is the actual Christmas ad, but we'll just say it is... Looks like they filmed in South London. I recognise those council estate like buildings from somewhere. The mother is a nurse and the son cares for her safety return at night. So the son borrows (I hope) lamps from all over just to light up the path his mother takes... Well whoever pays the electricity bill better hope it's a light bill. >_<"

Taiwan - 比手機重要的事 (Seize the Moments)
In this ad, I also think it's not a Christmas one, but we'll just say it is - plus it's got Chinese and English subs! We follow some kids from all over Taiwan in a movie advert setting. Kids telling their stories of their childhood... you can see all the IKEA furniture in this one... Then the last scene is the funny part when a little girl drops her cup - I presume to give to her parents...

USA - The Dream
Probably not a Christmas one either... Quite a plain ad of families showing off their IKEA homes... Blah.

Italy - Sorprenditi Ogni Giorno. Anche a Natale. (Every Day surprise yourself. Even at Christmas.)
Aha! We finally get to see the Italians make a Christmas ad! It's all Christmasy with lots of families, even the sexy Santa makes an effort. ^_^ The last seen has to be the killer... Decorating a Christmas tree with silver spoons? >_<"""

Germany - Gute Aussichten für Weihnachten (Good prospects for Christmas)
¬_¬" I'm not sure what to make of this German IKEA ad... Well the parents are decorating their home when the mother makes a remark of something. The son finds it amusing and then makes a mockery of their parents... Hmmmm... Boys will be boys? I think I need to start learning German!!

Switzerland - No Empty Chairs at Christmas
Here we see a lonely man watching TV by himself, he then switches his TV off as he listens to his neighbours sing togther, the man joins in from his living room and then starts singing loudly... LOL! The doorbell rings. Who could that be? It's his neighbours who invite him over for dinner. A typical storyline... Not that original.

Sweden - Tupplur (Napping)
A little boy thinks Santa is sleeping on his couch! Not sure if that's Santa kiddo but your granddad who looks like Santa... ¬_¬

Skridskor (Skates)
Never. Ever. Let your kids put on skates in the house when you have wooden floors... Consequences of going though the presents early!

Russia - Новогодний ролик ИКЕА (New IKEA roller)
And finally we have the Russians! How often do you have unexpected guests turn up for the Christmas dinner (none for me) but I'm sure if you have a massive family, it's expected to have lots of dining space! ^_^

Now that's IKEA done!! Phew. I guess I have to find more ads...

Poundland Christmas Advert 2016 - AMAZING!

LOL! My my, the retailers are stepping up their games with Christmas!

Even Poundland are giving it a go. In this day and age we all shop for cheap things. Why? Because everything is expensive!

We see a person going around the public in a typical high street asking shoppers how much do they think certain products are... People are guessing £10 for items!! BUT. They are actually £1 items. HAHAHAH. I'm a cheapskate. So I'm always happy to shop in Poundland.

A nice try from Poundland.

McDonald's Christmas Advert 2016 - The Doll

Classic toy story!

Miss Pinky and Mr Picky didn't like this ad, but I actually liked it! A doll is put in the window, lots of toys are bought but she seems to be left behind. McDonald's is just opposite and she sees a lot of kids, couples and families go in and out and eating their lives away with McDonald's food....

Well it's almost Christmas Day, and no one has bought her, so Juliette the doll escapes from the toy store, runs into McDonald's and tries to find a suitable family to go to... She sees a Buzz Lightning lookalike - not sure what type of electronic male toy it is but she seemed tempted by his charming good looks... Think she slipped into the bag and then waves goodbye to the shopkeeper as she leaves to her new home.

Pretty ad. Mixture of humans and animation.

Heathrow Airport Christmas Advert 2016 - Coming Home for Christmas

Sweet. Ok, Heathrow... Not sure why Heathrow have decided to do an ad... Maybe they're copying the Canadian Airline. Uh hm.

Anyway, we see two elderly teddy bears just arriving at Heathrow... Customer service seems like the most important thing that they're pointing out here... Are we always happy with plane service? Well I'm not always happy. Something is always forgotten. They show us the typical arrival situation, pass the border, get your luggage and find your family.

A very sweet ad. Almost got me teary. ^_^

Sainsbury's Christmas advert 2016 -The Greatest Gift

Lovely, but I wonder how much was spent making these adverts.

Filled with animation we see a white and black couple (methinks they were previously divorced and remarried to each other - that's just a typical family situation I've seen many times in real life) who try to get as much time together as possible. It's impossible with a working father and a mother who is busy with the two kids... But the father thought of the possibility of creating toys with his face so that his family and friends won't miss him too much. Creating multiples of himself!! ¬_¬""

Well storyline is ok showing the world of the typical situation with a snowflake on the train tracks can cause major chaos to the trains. Song is brilliant though! Not sure why all the women have big hips. :p

Here's a shorter ad of the food... I think they could have just left it with this ad instead of doing their long 3 minute version. Oh well... They have money it seems.

I like it, but not sure about the big hipped women!!

Waitrose Christmas Advert 2016 - #HomeForChristmas

Meh. I don't why everyone is thinking this is a better Christmas advert than the John Lewis and M&S ones.

We watch a robin migrate from the north to the south. We see how they travel, escape from enemies and try to survive the rough sea.... just to eat a mince pie left out by a girl (who I think was one of the previous Waitrose ads - if I'm not mistaken).
As much as I like wildlife, it hasn't given me that Waitrose feeling that they had given in their previous ad.

Hasn't beaten my fave M&S!

M&S 2016 Christmas Ad - Christmas with love from Mrs Claus #LoveMrsClaus

Lovely! This has been my favourite Christmas advert so far! Even better than the John Lewis one!!

Santa Claus goes on his usual road trip leaving Mrs Claus alone.

A letter is written to the Mrs rather than the Mr, heheh, and so she sets off on her mission via helicopter to help the little boy cheer up her sister... Found it quite emotional with this story. Brother and Sisterly love. ^_^

Rather liked this one... guessing all the food and presents are available at M&S...

Harvey Nichols Christmas Advert 2016 - Britalia

¬_¬" Someone slap my forehead please. *SLAP*

Harvey Nichols opt for the typical furious Italian family. And they aren't happy that Mr Nichols has stolen everything from them...

It's all in English subs... Found this like a bit of a joke. Miss Vegan had decided that there are two types of Italians we work with. On one end they are prima donnas. On the other they are the kindest people on Earth. How lucky are we?! :p In this case the ads show the prima donnas. The snobby rich who want to seek revenge on the British retailer. ^_^

It's a so-so ad. Not the funniest or greatest Christmas ad but do we want all the Italian products? Gosh I sound like a Brexit person. :p ... why not the French or German stuff??

Toys R Us Christmas Advert 2016 – It’s a Magical Place Children's Choir!

The Geek is off for two weeks on holiday... will try and blog whilst on holiday, but unlikely gonna happen. :p

Uh oh. I think this is the most disappointing Christmas advert I have seen so far.

Toys R Us opt for a school class to sing their classic Toys R Us song... but what they lacked in this advert were the ethnic minorities. ¬_¬" Am I just being a typical Asian woman who thinks about diversity? Probably yes.

Sorry kids... adult being mean here!

This Christmas ad is not in my good book of adverts.

TK Maxx Christmas Advert 2016 - The Sing-Song

HAHAHAHAH! Such a funny advert. And I'm still laughing at this. ^_^

TK Maxx, the discount clothes, accessories and wotnots store have opted for the family gathering doing The Sing Song.

It's quite hilarious. But I don't suggest that people should go and gargle with alcohol and assume that their family and friends are going to join in with the music making. LOL.

Anyway, how did that old lady hold that gargle for about 40 something seconds? Must've been some audio loop!

Littlewoods Christmas Advert 2016 - The Christmas Walk 40"

Oh woowww!! Littlewoods have finally got rid of Myleen Klass! Yeeeessss!!! Was getting a little bored of her in the Christmas ads to be honest. :p

I'm actually quite surprised by Littlewoods effort in this fairly simple but effective advert. I've become a Christmas advert snob but I actually like this. Puff.

Some powerful music, a family who show off their purchases and gifts, walk down the street then boof, they bump into another family from around the corner in which they start using a silence section in the music (like what they did in the John Lewis ad)... Then the families carry on, on their way to wherever they're supposed to be going.

Did the other family also purchase their gifts from Littlewoods?

The only part I didn't like about the ad was the stereotypical part showing a black girl and a black man just staring at the white family. ¬_¬"

Argos Christmas Advert 2016 - Yetis

Meh. A bunch of yetis snowboard across a town picking up gifts...

By the way collecting items in 60 seconds after purchasing or reserving the item online seems impossible. Why? Do you know how many people use this store? Tonnes of people! Plus when there's no staff... then they are thinking the impossible.

Not really that impressed by the advert. If you've been to an Argos store, then you will understand the consequences of the waiting game.

Tesco Christmas Advert 2016 - Bring It On

What do mothers (and all women in fact) think before Christmas? Impressing the guests and family, what toys/games their grandchildren are in, what food do people like, what are they going to wear etc., etc... well Tesco seemed to have recorded our thoughts somewhere (probably went through a large brainstorm/survey with women). ¬_¬""

Tesco brings back the Mr and Mrs couple from last year's adverts... we have the Mrs speaking out her thoughts about it being too early to even think about Christmas,..

But I just wonder. Once it's December will she be thinking the same things as she had done in "November"... Will Tesco be bringing out another ad for December on their progress?

A food for thought! And yes mince pies is just too early! ^_^

Boots Christmas Advert 2016 - The Gift of Beauty

Boots have gone for a not-so-dazzling advert this Christmas.

It's a very simple advert on the working woman. A woman who basically works shifts and unable to impress their family and friends... so the makeup artists step in and I think they're using some or all the products that Boots represent... Hmmm...

Looks like a fairly low budget advert that didn't make the Christmas gifts as beautiful as the viewer would have seen it.

Bring back the dazzle Boots. Bring back the dazzle.

Debenhams Christmas Advert 2016 - #Foundit for a fabulous Christmas

LOL!! My my, Debenhams have gone out and explored a different way of story telling this year.

Ok, it is similar to last year's ad but in this case the accessories are doing the talking instead of family members telling how and why they bought it. I found it hilarious that the accessories were telling their story in why we should go out and buy them!

The way the coffee machine said "I can zush milk" I started giggling. The man bag was also funny but I think they could have at least chosen something less similar to last years man bag.
It's quite an appealing advert to all. Debenhams do sell more than undies, so men, don't feel obliged if you have to choose that sort of gift for your other half... an expensive handbag would do (for me anyway!).

An improvement.

House of Fraser Christmas Advert 2016 - Christmas is Coming for You

Wow. A very vibrant Christmas advert from House of Fraser this year.

Last year's advert was pretty much sad story telling. This year's is very similar, almost the same to be honest, apart from the song...

Group dancing, no mouthing of the words, stamping themselves at the dining table, etc, etc... This year House of Fraser seemed to have got it right. A mixture of clothes, accessories, kitchenware, perfumery and kids clothes are seen. It's thankfully not boring... watching it over and over again will make you bore of it eventually.

Overall, it's a happy story telling ad compared to last year. ^_^

eBay Christmas Advert 2016 - Survive The Disco

Hmmm. The next ad is from eBay. (I'm watching The Apprentice as I write this, so I might get critical). ¬_¬"

It's a very geeky advert. As geeky as me I guess. I shop on eBay a lot (a confession).
So these bunch of teenagers go to a disco, and they seem to have a lot of gadgets and accessories on them like a ouiji ball, necklaces, phones, headphones etc, etc...!

Well, a very chilled ad targeted mainly for teens rather than the adults. A cheaper way of getting through Christmas. ^_^

Aldi Christmas Advert 2016 - Kevin The Carrot

Right. I'm going to go in the order I found/watched these Christmas adverts for 2016.

Get ready for some great ones and awful ones!! I really can't wait to find all those international ones too!!!!

Let's have a watch of this ad.

So we have a 3 inch baby carrot named Kevin searching for Santa! He traipses through the dinner table to get to Santa's mince pie, he lights up the Christmas pudding, manages to escape a roast potato boulder, go through a bucket of ice etc before jumping onto the Christmas tree and onto Santa's plate.

Kevin the carrot takes a snooze, and before he realises it, he's awakened and flying over the UK attached to one of the reindeers who thinks that Kevin is food! Well Santa got around really quick that night it seems. ^_^

A pleasant story from Aldi. They never disappoint with their Christmas adverts!

And here's an extra ad... I'm really not sure if they're just taking the mickey out of John Lewis. >_<"

Twix Creamy Peanut Butter Flavour

Time for a chocolate post! Christmas advert posts are coming soon!!

I found this Twix chocolate bar in Morrisons a few weeks ago for 80-something pence. It's an import from the USA, so I was quite surprise to see it.

It's made with creamy peanut butter so was very intrigued on how this was going turn out.

It had the normal two pieces of Twix bars we see in the UK.

Instead of caramel, the Americans have replaced it with peanut butter, the very sweet version. For me peanut butter has to be the slightly salty kind. This has that but I think it's the chocolate that ruins the taste... Doesn't taste right. Americans really have a chocolate sweet tooth!

Apart from the chocolate, this biscuit and peanut butter were fine...

Would I buy this again?
Absolutely not! Give me a normal Twix bar anytime!

John Lewis Christmas Advert 2016 - #BusterTheBoxer

Trump won, and we're all doomed. Nuclear destruction to the world!!

Oh well, on another note, Christmas is just around the corner. 46 days from today to be exact. This year's advertising has been the pits. The poster adverts are the pits. Haven't seen anything amusing or eye catching this whooole year, hence the low amount of posts this year. :(

But finally the Christmas TV ads are out! And first off is the John Lewis ad called #BusterTheBoxer... Let's review...

Well, it's an improvement from last year. On first review it did make me laugh. On second review I thought hmmm. CGI foxes, a badger, squirrel (not even a red one) and a hedgehog - the British wildlife we find in our back gardens and streets, had given the trampoline a go. Is that a spirit of Christmas or that just some wild fun we wish we had right now? It reminded me of a book I read as a teen about some British animals travelling to another park... The Animals of Farthing Wood. ¬_¬" (That was a blast from the past, hahahah).

Anyway, Buster the boxer dog feels like he's missing out on the fun. He's cute when he does his sad face. And when the parents (his owners) open the back garden  door, who gets to the trampoline first? The dog of course. Parents and their daughter look on in shock. LOL! The trampoline was built by the dad for the daughter who loves jumping up and down on her bed.

For those who own a dog, I don't think they'll have a look of shock, they'll most likely have a look of anger and horror on their faces. What if they pooped on the trampoline or chewed on it... Hmmmm.

The song didn't really help the advert either... "One Day I'll Fly Away" was a bit too sad. :( Depressing.

It's made me laugh, but sadly, it hasn't given me that Christmas spirit... Good try John Lewis.

The New £5 Notes

Excited about these new £5 notes?

Well, there's actually nothing to be excited about. Some people were excited for it's value - the one's that were produced from the very start, and majority were just complaints. Too slippery. They don't fit into the self paying machines... and one seen in the news was that shrink and shrivel in the washing machine. LOL. But the best thing is that they don't tear apart like the old ones!

Whatever it's worth, I don't really care... the plastic fiver is just another way to stop people from replicating and making fake ones... Let's see what the fraudsters can do with these! LOL! I bet nothing. Heheheh.

The Queen at the front and Sir William Churchill at the back.

Tonkotsu Ramen Restaurant - London Blackfriars

Well I was supposed to blog a lot this month... buuuut I ended up being so busy at the end of this month, so I didn't have time to do anything. Saturday over. Sunday I'm back in action, although I had to do some spring cleaning... More spring cleaning to go.

On one of my Pokémon Go walkabouts (I really wanted to evolve my Margikarp ASAP) I decided I wanted to try this place Tonkotsu. I've tried waiting for Miss Pinky to tag along but she's never had the time or remembered to go and find it. :( So a geeky decision was made to go and try it since I was in the Thames area. If you see Wagamama then you're almost there, Tonkotsu is in the next street.

It seemed like a very quiet Sunday and I think it was past the lunchtime rush hour. There were already a few customers there but looked like they were almost done.

I made a final decision on the food I wanted. I also ordered half a pint of Kirin beer, they don't sell Asahi. Oh well. Prefer the sweet beer anyway.

Woooow at this chicken karaage. They looked kind of plain, but in actual fact it really tasted nice! I think they used chicken thigh. It was nice and juicy on the inside... I could have ate loads of these. I made a soy sauce and chilli oil dip. Wished they had some Japanese mayo to go with it. ^_^ Nice crunchy outer layer and juicy chicken worked really well here. Defo recommend this!!!

I had the Tonkotsu ramen and also ordered some extra chashu (I was completely hungry after the 3 hour walk I had!). This was awesome. Different creamy texture to the other ramen places. The soup is on the salty side but has that same aftertaste you get from all the ramen stores. Can't explain what that aftertaste is. The chasu was very enjoyable. They are thickly cut not like some places where they give you a very very thin slice. I couldn't bite through it though and had to eat each slice in whole. ¬_¬"".

I actually enjoyed it! Think I would go here again if anywhere else was busy for a bowl of ramen. Too bad I didn't finish the soup but I had my beer and more walking to get on with. ^_^

My afternoon meal... tried to make that chicken karaage last for a long time...

Gochisosama deshita! ^_^

Total came to £21.80. Worth it for the soup!

My geeky rating: 5/5

Good points:
- Polite service
- Loved the thick cut chashu slice
- Soup is creamy and actually ok
- Enjoyed the chicken a lot!!!!

Bad points:
- Nothing that I can think of... only the choice of beer! Where's the Asahi?!

Here's some pictures from my walk...

I rarely walk on the north side of the Thames. It was quite magnificent to see The Shard reflecting the clouds and blue skies. Very pretty indeed!

A guy playing the trumpet in Southbank... ^_^

There were a bunch of rollerbladers. Not sure what was happening that day!

Back to work tomorrow... A whole day of going in between places... It's going to be another exhausting week... :p

I hope you've all turned back your clocks... I think the time change has made me exhausted. Back to sleep I go. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Kit Kat Chunky - Cookie Dough Flavour

Huuuuh? Kit Kat is on the verge of a price hike because of Brexit?!!!! This is so uncool. Bloody Nestlé! Bloody Tories! :p

But before the price hike happens, let's review this Kit Kat Chunky Cookie Dough flavour together. Saw some poster adverts in Ireland and knew when I came back to London I had to go and find this flavour. ^_^

There's two pieces. So one for later or does it have to be shared? ¬_¬" No sharing at this moment!

The cookie dough flavouring is on top of the wafers. The white stuff.

Tasting moment: Can taste a strong taste of cookie dough as I took a bite into it, but then it was overpowered by the sweetness of the chocolate which ruined the sensation of the cookie dough. Maybe they could have added some of the cookie dough into the chocolate itself like they do with the Japanese Kit Kat bars. Or maybe they could have toned down the chocolate's sweetness...

It's very very sweet but think I will just stick to the normal Kit Kat Chunky bars for the time being.

At the moment it's less than a pound I think...

Homemade Spicy Korean Style Ramen

Had a craving for spicy Korean food. Was watching too many cooking videos on Instagram... Master H (Miss Pinky's youngest brother) mentioned that he was watching mini cooking videos on Instagram and I thought I might as well have a look at a lot of cooking stuff... which made me make this dish. >_<"

Didn't take any pictures of the ingredients, but maybe you can tell what ingredients are used from the picture below...

No? Here's a close up...

2 fried eggs - cook first!
Cheese mix: mozzarella and cheddar

Packet of ramen (anyone... Korean ramen is the best)
1 teapsoon of olive oil
1 tablespoon of tomato paste
1 heaped teaspoon of Gochujang (Korean hot paste)
1 tablespoon of cane sugar (or normal white sugar) - I just used cane sugar since I have a whole box to use
1 teaspoon of hot chili powder (you can add more if you like spicy food)
2 frankfurters cut into diagonal pieces
Small portion of white cabbage (you can use sweetheart cabbage)
1 small cup of water

Cooking instructions:
1. Cook the ramen without the sauce packets and sprinkles for 3-4 minutes. Drain water once ready.
2. Using a small frying pan, add the olive oil and fry the frankfurters for 2 minutes.
3. Add the cabbage and cook for a further 2 to 3 minutes.
4. Add the tomato paste, gochujang, cane sugar and hot chili powder, Mix into the frankfurters and cabbage.
5. Add water to the mix, cover the pan with a lid and simmer for around 3 to 4 minutes or until the sauce thickens slightly.
6. Add the cooked ramen and mix into the ingredients.
7. Serve in a bowl and add the toppings... Now enjoy. ^_^

Mashittda! 맛있다 ! Delicious!

Homemade Flapjacks with Chocolate topping

It was Baby B's birthday last month. She's one years old! Wow. I can't believe I've been almost a Kai Ma 契媽 (the Cantonese version of a godmother a.k.a adoptive mother). I say almost because Baby B hasn't given me a cup of tea to drink to officially become my Kai Neui 契女 (goddaughter a.k.a adoptive daughter) yet... It has to be an official celebration thing for us Chinese peeps.

Miss Pinky and Mr Picky were deciding on a lot of things on how to celebrate this little baby's birthday... In the end we ended up going to the Horniman Museum park area which is located around Forest Hill.

So what did we all have to do? Cook food! I was originally going to make brownies, but ended up making flapjacks!

I used this recipe but changed a few things:

Ingredients (they were actually all estimated ^_^ ... I didn't bother with the weighing scales):
~750g of Scottish oats
~500g of butter
~300g of baking syrup
~400g soft light brown sugar
3 bars of Milka original chocolate bars

1, Melt the butter and sugar and syrup together until it goes all gooey and brown
2. Mix in the above into the oats and stir all together making sure all the oats are soaked with the sugars and butters
3. Pour into a lightly buttered baking tray. You can also add a baking sheet to make it easy to pick up and cut - up to you!
4. Set the oven to around gas mark 5, and bake in the middle of the oven for 45 minutes... I cooked it longer because there were so many oats!
5. Once done, take the tray out and set aside.
6. Place the chocolate into a heat proof bowl. Heat a pan of water and set the bowl on top of the pan. Whilst the water is boiling, the chocolate should melt. Stir the chocolate around to make it melt faster...
7. After all the chocolate is melted, add this on top of the uncut flapjacks (I didn't smooth the chocolate down on purpose)
8. Cool the flapjacks overnight and cut when ready. ^_^ You can score the chocolate before it completely sets.

Mr Stingy loved them. I loved them. And everyone at the party loved them! Yum yum yum!! We just needed more main food dishes... But it looks like I will be making more of these in the future. Hahahahahah.

Here's Miss Pinky with Baby B in her new unicorn night suit from M&S. Happy sleeping in it. LOL!

Comical Bus Stop Invasion Street Art a.k.a Brandalism

Making up for lost time for not actually spending lots of time blogging.
This month, for the rest of the month, I'm going to off load an upload junk on this blog.

Wait for it... So. This past year has been filled with street art or what others would call Brandalism ... or shall I say comical posters at a bus stop in the Walworth Road, located in front of Newington Library and there was one at Elephant and Castle. Brandalism is when someone mocks advertisements and brands. Anti-advertising.

I love it, the more offensive it is the funnier I find it.

I'm not sure who the artist(s) of these posters are, but it has captured some attention... they are often there for a minimum of a week, maybe a few days or longer if lucky and then replaced by a boring advert.

This poster was at Elephant and Castle. It shows an astronaut painting the sun or red moon, and shouting out "No God" at the bottom. Meaning there's no god in outer space.

This is one of the first posters at the bus stops in front of the library (there may have been one before this, but I can't remember). It says "Practical Squatting". What does that even mean?! Are people squatting because they have no place to stay, rent is too high in London and pay is too low... how do people survive?!

This was on the inside side of the bus same bus stop... Upside down tree. Probably meaning our trees are going downhill. We're no longer breathing because the trees are all going to make way for other things... like new tower blocks.

And recently this was up for about a week or two. "Fart go further"... it also says "Why worry about Global Warming? We all die anyway." And at the very bottom (missed out the first word), it says "... of Climate Scientists that that all this bla bla bla about "the Global Warming issue" is BULLSHIT". LOL!!! Well it's kind of right... How on Earth do we stop eating meat and become all vegan? Population is high anyway... ¬_¬""

Anyone know who they are? Are they locals to the Walworth Road? Street artists or Brandalists don't really reveal themselves I know.

For my own selfish reasons, please keep invading this bus stop!

Budget Ireland Trip 2016 - Day 4: Dublin - The End

Monday 12th September - all day!

It was our final day in Ireland. After a very early check out (thanks to the B&B place we stayed in who accepted us leaving the money in the room and leaving the key on the door) it was time for a long walk back to the bus station. What's with all these long walks... Backpacking is just hard work... LOL!

Bye bye Galway. Miss Money liked this area... she'll probably visit again...

Bus ticket from Galway to Dublin is €15 on a 3 to 4 hour journey... Huh... How comes this trip is much cheaper than the trip to the Cliffs?! Didn't make sense to the two of us.

Halfway into the journey, we had loads of people getting on the bus as it was stopping at Dublin Airport. At that point I fell asleep for 15 minutes... Uh. I never fall asleep on the bus! That's the first time! But geez, my power nap energised me for the rest of the day. ^_^

We finally arrived in Dublin around 11.30ish. It was nice to see Dublin again... But so many road works!

So I told Miss Money we should go and visit Trinity College, which is the most famous part of Dublin. I swear Miss Money only likes places that are rated the best. I asked her why one time... why does it have to be the best? ¬_¬" Anyway, she didn't look up any parts in Dublin, so I was basically her tour guide for the parts I remembered.

Is this one of Invader's works? Yeah, I think it is! LOL! Ireland is AWESOME for free WiFi!! I cannot doubt that one bit... I wish lots of countries were like Ireland. ^_^

Miss Money were practically starving... She wanted breakfast, so we had to look around... We found this place called Urban Picnic which was in the middle of an arcade. Asked if they were still doing breakfast, and the kind man said he could do some breakfast for us...

The service was actually quite slow... The guys who ordered soup after us ate and went... Very, very slow...

This was our breakfast, but they added the mushrooms onto Miss Money's plate which should have been on mine... The bread was hard... everything else was ok... Not the greatest breakfast we've had...

My geeky rating: 3.5/5

Address: George's Street Arcade, S Great George's St, Dublin, Ireland

We went for a walk now... we had hours until our flight back to London. We kept seeing places who were doing all day breakfasts for cheap... Miss Money wasn't happy. Hahahahaha. Oh well. That's life.

Pointed out the famous Temple Bar to her... she wasn't that interested in this place. ¬_¬"

Then we decided to head to the Guinness Factory...

Saw this and thought of Miss Pinky... LOL

I had forgotten how long the walk to the Guinness factory was... Long! When we got there, all we did was take pictures on the outside... I think Miss Money will come again to Dublin to have a go at serving herself a pint. :D

After going around the factory we kind of ended up walking around the river area... even explained to Miss Money where I had stayed last time I was there.

After walking around, drinking an expensive small iced coffee, posted some more postcards and reminiscing about what Miss Pinky and I did 4 years ago we headed towards the tourist shops. Bought a few things, then took a local bus (again the number 16, which Miss Pinky and I took) to the airport. I actually couldn't understand the bus driver for the price of fare, so I just added coins into the coin thingy... ¬_¬""

Finally at the airport with my muddy trainers and ugly look (we were tired!!)... I was kind of not in a happy mood with this heavy backpack... Let me rest Miss Money!!! She wanted to buy more souvenirs. :p

Before we headed to our gate, we ate some Burger King food. I actually wasn't very hungry for some reason, so I had some chicken strips. Was fed up of eating chips too.

Ok, so this wasn't our flight home, but I thought I would take a picture as there were no people surrounding the windows, and it looked scenic.

It was time to board, yaaay! We had these rude Americans who pushed in the queue, and I had this feeling they wanted to push in front of us when they went into the wrong queue... Pee off! I kind of blocked their path after going through the passport check. Such rude people.

So this is our actual flight... there's something about cheap flights when we actually have to go outside and climb up stairs to board the plane. Not fun really.

Finally arrived in London around 9.30pm. The flight was on time! And yes Ryanair still have those silly on time messages they broadcast on the flight... Ugh. We were the last people to get off the plane. Hahahah. There was a disabled lady sitting next to us, but it was ok as we didn't mind taking our time.
There was no passport control at the other end... so we were very early for our coach back into Waterloo. We asked at the National Express desk if we could board an early coach, they said yes, the driver said yes, and we were back home very early! Wooo!!

Felt this trip was all about luck. Trial and error luck. ^_^

Total spent on Day 4: €70.90

Total spent on the trip (excluding flights and B&B's/Hostels/housing): €255.90 - average of €62 (~£55-60)

Well, our spending was much better than what Miss Pinky and I had done four years ago. I think we could have spent even less if we had tried harder. ^_^

End of Day 4.

My next trip will be soon... Guess where I'm going!
