Takoyaki Korean Crackers

Also bought these from Centrepoint for £1.99!! I've never tasted takoyaki flavoured crackers before...

They're actually puffs! Like cheese puffs! They actually taste quite sweet but has a barbeque taste to it - Think it might be the brown sauce they serve...okonomiyaki sauce... Unfortunately it has an artificial sweetener aftertaste which loses its appeal to the eater.

Yummy and addictive! But the aftertaste is a bit off putting!

Samyang Hot Chicken Flavoured Almonds

Very short post!

Bought these in Centrepoint (Korean supermarket) for £1.39. Thought it would be interesting on how these would taste as I really love their fiery Hot Chicken flavour... Looks like a lot of people took the challenge to eat their noodles, and it seems a lot of people have become addicted to them... I've limited the amounts of times I eat their noodles, and always add mayo and cheese to it!

It's a small packet of almonds, even from the first almond I felt a fiery heat building...

Probably nice to eat when watching some dramas with a beer... ^_^

Kit Kat Chunky - New York Cheesecake Flavour

Back to the normal Kit Kat Chunky in the UK!

I think the New York Cheesecake flavour has been out for a while, I just haven't had the time to find it, sit down, take pictures and eat it... ^_^

Ah I love Kit Kat Chunkies!! I think this was probably the best move NestlΓ© had ever made for us chococlate and biscuit lovers.

I could really taste that New York Cheesecake flavour, which in a normal New York Cheesecake it would be filled with heavily creamed cheese and has a slightly saltier taste. This Kit Kat takes on that challenge, and adding the normal chocolate and wafer biscuit to support the flavour... I think it blends quite well together...

Think I will need to buy a few of these! Wish NestlΓ© could sell these in packets of 4!! πŸ˜‹

Japanese Kit Kat - Mainichi no Zeitaku (Luxury Days), Cranberry and Almond flavour

Another interesting Japanese Kit Kat flavour, also bought from Japan directly via eBay for a better price without shipping fees... I was quite curious why this was called a Luxury Days sort of Kit Kat...

There are only six in this packet. Such a shame to only have very, very small pieces for this packet! Quite disappointed.

This is a very different compared to all the Japanese Kit Kat and the normal ones in the UK. It's like a nougat from Belgium, France and Germany. Lots of almonds and cranberry pieces fill the top instead of having their traditional logo name stamped on top of the piece of chocolate. Here they have used dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. It doesn't have too much bitterness, so I would say less than <50% dark chocolate. It's not too sweet and probably good for my teeth!

The main disappointment is that it was only a single piece... and very expensive!

I can see why this was called a Luxury Days Kit Kat... Very extravagant!

Japanese Kit Kat - Momiji Manju Flavour

Putting a hold on Christmas adverts for the moment - they'll be back in the next week or two!

I'm now almost up-to-date with all my blog posts! THANK YOU for bearing with me this year. Exams and life events controlled me, therefore a lazy blogging geek exists. πŸ˜‡

The next few posts will be on snack foods, and this post will be part 1 of two posts on some newish Japanese Kit Kats I've bought on eBay.

Saw these flavours in Japan Centre, but I find them awfully expensive - because of damned shipping fees I bet! Well it was actually a little cheaper on eBay (almost half the price with no shipping fee), so I did some eBay shopping from Japan. πŸ˜› The best way to spend and save some money!

Box of 5 Japanese Kit Kats. Quite a big box for the small amounts of chocolate inside.

This was surprisingly in a slightly different Kit Kat compared normal Kit Kats. It has a cute Japanese maple leaf on one side. They've covered part of the gap where the Kit Kat pieces are normally split for it to easily to break apart. πŸ˜™ Really couldn't wait to taste this!

I have no idea what the flavour of Momiji Manju is, but looking it up, it's supposed to be a steamed bun made with buckwheat or wheat, eggs, sugar and honey, then filled with jam... Interesting... But very, very sweet. Even my back teeth were kind of noticing the extra sugar!

An interesting buy, wouldn't really get it again as this was far too sweet with the milk chocolate and all the other ingredients...

Vodafone UK Christmas Adverts 2017 - "Love Story"

Have Vodafone upgraded themselves in the advertising world?

Here we see Martin Freeman in a several part Love Story. The adverts are quite cheesy, but by the time you reach to Part 3, you really want to know what happens next. It becomes a cliffhanger like those Korean dramas... what happens next. I won't give spoilers for these adverts, just watch and see...

Part 1: Love on the Platform

Part 2: The First Call

Part 3: Doubt

Part 4: Idiot

Part 5: Beach Reunion

I've watched a few Japanese mobile phone adverts, and I think Vodafone have probably taken some advice from a Japanese company... πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

A good effort... Not sure about the ending though with Christmas being on a beach... These "posh" people...

Sainsbury's Christmas Advert 2017 - #everybitofchristmas

Argh, stop with the negative comments on this one. At least Sainsbury's considered the public to join in a sing-a-long for Christmas this year.

But here's my personal question to the companies out there, do you all get together (I mean all the advertising companies across the world), see which ideas are the best, then take it to another level, and then start copying each other's ideas to see who will get the better ratings? πŸ˜–

Sainsbury's and Waitrose obviously have the same marketing and advertising teams. Their ads are in black and white! Although in my geeky heart, the Sainsbury's ad wins for their effort of bringing different ethnic minorities and a sing-a-long with it! It's even subtitled! 😊

No matter what people say about this ad, I love it compared to all the most expensive ads made this Christmas...

Waitrose Christmas Advert 2017 - "ChristmasTogether"

A Geeky Sigh... We've gone back in time to the dark ages of black and white TV. Grimace. I do like black and white films, but come on!

Waitrose have opted to go with the black and white theme of people getting stuck in a pub. Oh no, they've been snowed in! πŸ˜’ The electricity goes out and they're all left in the dark... What else is there to do? Cook, make a dinner whilst waiting for rescue... As they cook, and are almost ready to eat, there are two shovellers who rescue them. Now that the people stuck in the pub are saved, do they eat or not eat??? πŸ˜‘

I did love the concept, but think they could've changed this back into colour towards the end... Or when they started cooking... People are more inclined to colour and will shop more if they see what the products look like before deciding to buy. A psychological act to get you to go to Waitrose and find out for yourself. πŸ˜›πŸ˜›πŸ˜›

Toys R Us Christmas Advert 2017 - "Geoffrey the Part Time Reindeer"

LOL!! This might be the Christmas advert I'm looking for!!

Compared to last year, Toys R Us have changed their theme.

This year we have an animated advert. Santa enters Toys R Us, buys all of his toys, comes out of the store and finds all of his reindeers have gone. Where have they got to? They're playing in the store, having fun with the toys... In the end Geoffrey the Giraffe ends up being a "reindeer" for the evening... Hilarious!

Not a bad advert! Funny!

ASDA Christmas Advert 2017 - "Best Christmas Ever"

ASDA almost made it into my good books...

Here we have a Charlie and The Chocolate Factory theme. A girl and her grandfather find themselves trespassing into a Christmas factory, they look around at all the wonderful technologies and see how things are made... Soon the security guard comes along with the girl's bag (why did she even put it down in the first place?!)... The guard isn't angry at them but takes them around the factory...

What a shame, I thought this ad had a good start but ended up being quite boring... Think they could have thought of a better ending...

Aldi Christmas Advert 2017

Oh no! Kevin the Carrot is back! ^_^

The advert might be deleted from last year, but thankfully I wrote a brief description of last year's ad.

Kevin the Carrot escapes from being the nose of a snowman, he thinks he sees Santa but actually sees a chef on a train serving a Christmas dinner, he climbs to the top of the table and sees a pretty female carrot. His mission: to get to the female carrot... He faces a lot of challenges amongst the table of food... poked by a fork, a sound of a cork, a gingerbread man is broken in half (thought to be a murder taken place)... then suddenly a spoonful of peas flies in the air and Kevin the Carrot tries to save the female carrot. He's hit by a pea! Kevin then says "I think I just pea'd myself" OMG! In the end it's a Titanic the movie theme. Leo and Kate scenario whilst Santa drives the train in the air...

Am I impressed? Nah... But seems to be better than the other Christmas ads this year.

The Range Christmas Advert 2017 - "Presents"

Who the heck are The Range?!

They're a furniture store in the U.K. I've never seen them before...

Well this seems to be a straight to the point Christmas advert. Compete with your neighbours on who has the best lights, presents and Christmas body suit. Santa versus the Turkey. 😁

Boots Christmas Advert 2017 - "#ShowThemYouKnowThem"

Que! What's with the Christmas adverts this year?!! Why are there so many past and present themes going on?! We're on a Christmas story telling crisis.

I'm actually writing this a day after it's been released (but now out for a week). It's a slightly boring ad from Boots's usually boastful style. We've become a sad nation of remembering the past during Christmas. 😫 Here we see a two sister theme again remembering about the past they had as a family. Perfume, lipstick, makeup... and the common sister-to-sister argument.

Brrrrr... Sweet but boring.

Tesco Christmas Advert 2017 - "Turkey, Every Which Way" #EveryonesWelcome

Think I can understand why lots were a bit hyped on this one. My thoughts below. 😯

Turkey! Why must we eat turkey at Christmas? It becomes dry whilst roasting it. Can't people choose something else to eat? Tesco have chosen to film several different types of families roasting a turkey or just getting together for the festive season. The turkey is always the topic of a family feud it seems. How long one must bake a turkey, depending on the size - one to two hours, possibly longer. Just remember to defrost it, clean it, season it, constantly turning it in the oven... And also choose the right size for your oven!!!

For one thing I'm sure about are Muslims (also Sikhs and Asians... seems to be no Chinese in the ad) don't really celebrate Christmas, like Buddhists and Christians don't celebrate Eid. I have many Muslim friends but they would still respect this tradition as they're in the Western world and it's mainly for their kids and friends. As I've grown up, and as a Chinese person, I've grown out of the Christmas theme at home but still celebrate the festivity with friends...

Other controversial topic on the many centuries is a gay couple in the advert. I think the Christian nation is offended. Why be? For many centuries gay people have existed. Think of the Roman times!

I wonder if anyone has roasted turkey like a Chinese roast duck before... Interesting...
Quite offended by there being no Chinese in the ad. Joke! πŸ˜…

Debenhams Christmas Advert 2017 - "#YouShall Find Your Fairytale Christmas"

Beginning to get a bit dreary of the Christmas adverts this year! πŸ˜†

I used to like Debenhams's Christmas adverts or did I? No, no, their #FoundIt advert was alright.

This year we have a story telling theme (Cinderella sort of theme), where a girl sits opposite a guy. Guy and girl falls in love for a brief few minutes. Girl leaves the train. Guy sees a sparkling show on the floor, but was it even hers?! She was wearing black shoes. She was holding her bags quite tightly... how on Earth did she lose that shoe?!! πŸ˜•Anyway, social media helps this soon-to-be couple to unite, and for her to get her shoe back.

I admit I had a tiny smile at the end, mainly because of the story teller, but thinking at the same time that this is so typical! Love the sparkly dress by the way!

Barbour Christmas Advert 2017 - "The Snowman and The Snowdog"

This is a continuation from last year's Christmas advert from Barbour...

Many years later, The Snowman returns and receives a present from the boy he met in the past... a Barbour jacket that doesn't really fit him (doesn't suit him much either).

Sweet but another boring ad...

If you haven't watched the first part, here it is:

Sky Cinema Christmas Advert 2017

Oh! Sky Cinema has a Christmas advert?!

Similar to the House of Fraser advert. Past and present theme again. This time we see a mother and daughter who seem to like watching The Sound of Music every Christmas. (My brother Mr Stingy loves the music... I'm kinda not into this movie... Traumatised by my brother's singing πŸ˜’). Seems like a traditional theme up to when the daughter moves out and has her own family... Looks like a family tradition that won't end!

A bit emotional towards the end... I think Sky knows how to bring emotion to their ads!!

Morrisons Christmas Advert 2017 - "Christmas List"

I don't know what to think about Morrisons's Christmas advert this year... Feels like fake emotion is going on here...

This year it seems more of the adverts are opting to show a muticultural side, an intertwined black and white family is seen in this Morrisons advert (reminds of the animated Sainsbury's 2016 advert). The step-son (I'm guessing) asks his mother what she's asking or Christmas. She replies loads. They go to Morrisons to get their food supplies... I'm liking that chocolate cake by the way... and in the end, the step-son asks if his mother got everything she wanted. She looks around and replies with a yeah....

A so-so advert wouldn't you say?

House of Fraser Christmas Advert 2017 - "Bring Back Merry"

Looks like I'm going to be blogging for a month about Christmas adverts! 😱

Miss Vegan from work suddenly said, am I blogging about Christmas adverts this year... LOL. So I said yes. Then she mentioned about House of Fraser. She was about to tell me the story line but stopped her. Don't spoil it for me!

The concept is nothing new for a typical Christmas advert. I think Tesco did something similar in the past. A past and present concept. We see two sisters here of their past and present selves of how Christmas was spent in their household. Now that they've grown up, they've learnt to go out and party. The older seems a bit more serious than the younger full of life sister. Looks like the younger one got away with most things! Hah!

Different to their past adverts, not too bad (better than John Lewis for sure!!).

John Lewis Christmas Advert 2017 - #MozTheMonster

It's only been out for one day and already there's a big hype of this Christmas advert from John Lewis! Oh dear!

I'm afraid I'm on the negative side of this advert. Sad music. Sad story line (but happy in the end). Isn't it just like their previous adverts... Monty The Penguin, The Long Wait, The Journey... and so on... All sad. Isn't Christmas supposed to be a celebration? I don't get it! πŸ˜•

Well, here we see a little boy trying to get to sleep but is disturbed by something underneath the bed. Moz The Monster. He seems to snore too much, and the little boy can't get to sleep because of the excessive loud snoring! But then he becomes with the monster, and they start playing late night. Eventually the boy becomes to tired during the day... Poor boy... Moz The Monster realises this and ends up giving the boy a present and disappears in the end. Peace at last! Or is it?!

After you watch it a few times, you wonder how much have John Lewis spent again on the animation (that's what I always think when I watch their ads). The advert just reminds me of the animation film, Monsters Inc. Hmmm. 😞

Depressing (music) but a loving ad although nearly the same to all their Christmas ads. 😩

Marks and Spencer Christmas Advert 2017 - "Paddington and The Christmas Visitor"

πŸ˜• Meh. I love M&S but this advert is just meh. It did not lift one smile at the beginning, middle or end... I like last year's advert, which was much more impressive...
Bring back the salivating food adverts... How many times about whinged about? 😏 My growing fondness of Christmas adverts is wearing already.

Paddington Bear is probably not one my favourite characters of all time. Here he's just fake Santa's little helper. Well Paddington Bear made the mistake of thinking he was Santa (the guy was actually stealing all the presents from other people's homes...), and Paddington Bear just happened to be the helper of the night returning the presents back.

I can't understand what all the hype and fuss was about when the media was reporting that fake Santa swore at Paddington Bear. I've listened to it a couple of times, but I can't hear the f*** word. You have bizarre hearing peeps! It was a muffled thanks with a slight northern accent.

Apart from the fuss, I think the music was ok (good choice in mood changes)... but the advert itself was plain meh.

#LoveTheBear !!

Thursday, 9 November 2017 Christmas Advert 2017 - "Get More Out of Giving"

Just a big sigh. have gone for the animated Christmas advert where a young girl makes up her list... and the last person on the list is to give a gift to Santa. It seems like the girl either lives in Iceland or mysteriously got there in her dreams (we know it's Iceland as we see the Northern Lights in the advert). Her toy wolf miraculously turns into a real life wolf and so gives her a ride to find Santa... Unfortunately the gift drifts away on an iceberg and the wolf tries to save it by throwing the girl aside and then jumping across the icy river to get the gift... So what happens at the end?

You shall found out by watching it!

It's seriously not my favourite advert. I can't see the feel... If your advertising for a website wouldn't you want more website feeling?

LIDL Christmas Adverts 2017

LOL!! πŸ˜‚

LIDL has made me laugh at their adverts! The narrator has that unique touch of being humorous.

Double Dipper
I'm a defo a Double Dipper, I must have more sauce as I eat along. MummyGeek hates me when I do that, so I avoid double dipping in front of her. I can understand party hosts/hostesses frustrations when it comes to this... We're people who just like a bit of flavour! The advert here expresses that uncertainty of germs from ones mouth to the dip. 😬 The hostesses expression is very understandable!!

Mince Pie Maverick
I've never met a person who likes mince pies, but if the person was like this, then I would think there was something wrong with him/her. πŸ˜† Would you eat mince pies from morning to night? Hm, depends on the filling I guess, and how the pastry was made... and maybe not too sweet...

Cavalier Carvers
We've gone from Double Dipper to a Mince Pie Maverick, and now we've reached the relatives of the round table... The turkey is out and we have a cavalier carver ready to carve the meat. πŸ˜‹ Let's hope LIDL's turkeys are really tasty to eat!

I definitely enjoyed the first two adverts. LIDL never loses their touch with their short and understandable Christmas adverts. Looks cost effective and not over the top! Thumbs up. (^_^)b

Argos Christmas TV Advert 2017 - #ReadyForTakeOff

Um. Is it ok to giggle and roll my eyes at the same time for this advert?

Feels familiar with some past adverts I've seen, like a typical forgotten present moment.

This is somewhat similar to the Amazon advert. Very similar indeed. We're at the packing and delivery stage at this advert (same as Amazon), but one missed robot toy seems to have escaped the pile to be delivered to a human boy. One elf spots it, and sees that the delivery craftship has almost departed... Did the elf get to the craftship in time? Why don't you watch it and find out!

We've seen these type of adverts before... Not particularly original from what I see, but I think it will make you giggle at the end and it will make the kids cheer for a tiny bit.

A tad boring...

Have seen the M&S one... that blog post is coming soon!

Amazon Christmas Advert 2017 - "Give"

Ah man! 😐

Just when I thought I was reaching to the end of updating all my blog posts (I'm practically up-to-date to be honest, just a few snacks to blog about) the Christmas ads had to come out again. In November! πŸ˜₯

Now starting off with the Amazon Christmas Advert where the pacels sing! I'm a big fan of Amazon and I know their workers work really hard (although my last delivery was a mishap, it never arrived, and so I had to cancel it and get a refund... think there was a problem with the delivery truck, but never understood what the real problem was).

The advert gives us customers a small insight of how our Amazon parcels go through the delivery service (the pre-packaging part is missed out... And I'm sure that's a lot of work too). The packages sing happily as we're shown where and how are packages get from the warehouse to our doorstep...
Not a very emotional story line. It didn't reach my heart to say shop at Amazon, and as a Prime member I'm a bit biased, due to the above incident (sorry).

It's cute. Not too Christmasy and not too over the top with the animated singing, I actually felt like singing along...! πŸ˜†

Now I think everyone is eager for the John Lewis advert... a nostalgic feeling is coming inside of me...

The Juice Pharm - London Browning Street (Walworth Road)

Ah. Surprisingly there's a new hidden cafe opened for about 2 months on a side street of Walworth Road. It wouldn't catch your eyes unless you live or walk around the area... Easily missed if you were on the bus too... I spotted this as I was heading towards New Kent Road via the back streets.

The original cafe, The Juice Pharm, is in St Albans (the area I got off to get to Whipsnade Zoo)... I think the owners have chosen a GREAT location for someone to try and blog about this place. πŸ˜…

The shop that was there before was once a hair salon (before that I don't know what it was), which somehow turned into a sun-tanning shop, then into this cafe. Think I've lived in this area for too long...

It's quite a small cafe with 2-3 tables and then there's a couple of benched tables along the front window and wall. Fairly cosy.

I randomly chose 2 items... Was actually quite tired from visiting Miss Pinky and Mr Picky from the night before, and woke up early to do some shopping...

The items came quick! Very happy with service even though there was only two people and a few more customers came in.

Chose the Choco Fix (£4.95), which has contains raw cacao, banana, dates, maca and almond milk. It's not overly sweet like those supermarket, manufactured smoothies. There is a light chocolate taste to it from the raw caocao. I could taste some sour banana, some chunky bits of dates, have no idea what maca (powder) is so I have no idea if I had tasted that. And of course they used almond milk which enhances the chocolatey flavour I'm guessing... πŸ˜‹

Next is this delicious Smoked Avo with sourdough bread (£6.75). I thought the bread would be hard and crusty, but nope it was soft and I could easily bite into it. The avocado spread was smooth (no wonder there's going to be an outage of avocado πŸ˜…). The smoked salmon was ok. And I liked the additional oily part of it. The chilli flakes gave it all an extra kick... Really, really tasty. Mouth melting for more!!! πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

That Saturday evening was very beautiful... This picture doesn't show it well.

Total price came to £11.70 (found the receipt!). Very expensive! I think Louis Louis might have some competition with the vegan side of things. πŸ˜†

My geeky rating: 4.9/5 (just too expensive, but so worth trying!)

Good points:
- Polite service
- Speedy with the smoothies and food
- Cosy small cafe

Bad points:
- Fairly on the expensive side

Address: York Mansions, 1A, Browning St, London SE17 1LP (not opened on Sundays)
